Motorists can save at least ten per cent on their car insurance policy by buying online, according to Norwich Union.
The insurance company's spokesperson, Erik Nelsen, added that drivers could also save money by putting their partner onto their insurance, as another clean driving licence could help them get further discounts.
He pointed out that keeping a car in a garage could also reduce premiums, but added that drivers should ensure they look for more than the cheapest quotes on their insurance.
"People are looking for the cheapest quote they shouldn't be looking for the cheapest quote, they should be looking for the best cover at the best price," he added.
Norwich Union is one of the UK's leading insurance companies, offering a number of products for health, travel, life insurance.
Part of the Aviva company, the firm has savings businesses in Asian markets, Australia and the US.
